Anarchism and Cities

The explanation for why a specifically anarchist urban politics is needed is very easy to express. The reason is that most of the people alive on the planet today live in cities, and if anarchism is to have something to say to them, it must also be able to speak about the issues that are affecting cities today. This means issues of housing and urban land use, of cars and roads and sidewalks, of bicycles and scooters and skateboards, of trees and parks. If anarchism cannot make its own case for an anti-authoritarian, autonomous political approach to these, then as a movement we are failing a large section of people.
